February 21, 2021

Good Afternoon, I’m an alcoholic, member of the Good Morning God group, my sobriety date is February 26th, 2009, my name is Sherri and it’s a great day to serve A.A.!

For anyone new here today, I’d like to extend a big warm welcome to General Service! If you do not have todays agenda, please check the chat for a link so you can follow along, it’s full of important information you can bring back to your groups, and most important, please keep coming back so we can keep helping you to help your groups!

Please feel free to unmute yourselves when it’s time to congratulate newly elected members, birthday celebrants, etc. etc., let’s be interactive and have some fun, we are not a glum lot.

Last Tuesday I received the General Service Conference agenda items background material. I then emailed the 13 trusted servants, who will be presenting them to you next month, their specific committee sections. Our March District Meeting will be abbreviated so we have plenty of time for presentations. What that means is, committee reports will not be read but will appear in full in the minutes for review. The presenter’s role is to help bring clarity and understanding to the list of topics on the agenda so you can feel confident bringing this information back to your groups. The presenters will mainly focus on the Discuss, the Consider and the Reconsider agenda items as there are a tremendous amount of Review items and we just would not have the time to cover them all. With that being said, if there are any questions you and / or your group have about any of the Review topics please don’t hesitate to contact any of the officers and we will help you understand. You may be asking, why we do this? Simply because we want to be prepared, to bring our District’s group conscious, your voice, to the April Assembly so that we can relay it to our Delegate, who will then take it onto the General Service Conference with him. If you are new or maybe not so new and don’t understand anything I just said, don’t feel bad, we have ALL been there, check the chat for a document that has a brief but more detailed explanation, and if you still have questions please contact me after the meeting. My contact information will be given at the end of this report.

We will be holding a poll later under new business concerning April’s Assembly. The dates are April 9th – 11th. The Area needs to know if we as a District wish to have the April Assembly in person with no hotel obligations, hybrid with unknown costs to the hotel for streaming, screens, projectors, etc., or virtually with no cancellation penalty from hotel.

We will also hold elections for an Archives Committee Chair, a Grapevine Committee Chair and vote on one motion that was presented last month.

General Service Representatives (GSRs), Alternate General Service Representatives, (Alt. GSRs) District Committee Members (DCMs), Alternate District Committee Members (ADCMs), Committee Chairs and fellow officers, thank you so much for all you do.

Please don’t hesitate to send your comments, questions or concerns to any of us, we are here to serve you. I can be reached by email at: chairperson@district9aa.org or by phone at: (954) 681-2309.

Let us remember that no one person is in charge. We need to always work together toward one goal, as our Declaration of Unity states; “This we owe to A.A.’s future; to place our common welfare first; to keep our Fellowship united. For on A.A. unity depend our lives, and the lives of those to come.”,

In Love & Service to you, District 9, where A.A. is Divine, Sherri
