September 10, 2023. I’m an alcoholic, my home group is Into Action, my sobriety date is March
20,1986 and my name is Sharon G. Thank you for being here as we learn and share on how
we can best Carry the Message in District 9, Broward County. In October we will be back in
Boca Raton for our Quarterly Assembly October 6-8th and we hope to have greater participation.
If you haven’t been able to reserve a room for Boca Raton, please email
hotelinfo@area15aa.org to get on the wait list. If at any time you reserve a room and cannot use
it, please notify that same email address so that they can transfer that room to someone on the
wait list. If not we lose it. We have 2 more planning meetings in Sept and October for our
November Gratitude Dinner and Steve B will be providing more information in his report.
Carrying the Message Day is just 13 days away on September 23rd at The 101 Club. This event
is unique in that it’s the three service entities in Broward County working together, Broward
County Intergroup, Broward County Institutions Committee and us, General Service District 9.
Please help us spread the word and encourage people that are curious about service in AA in
Broward County to attend the free event. Bring a Newcomer, Bring a Dessert. You will be
hearing from Our Archives Committee about the upcoming Early Timers Meeting on October 14
at the 101 Club. Our Area 15 Chair, Donna W, continues hosting District Chairs and Alternate
Chairs monthly and we will be meeting this Thursday, Sept 14th.
Today we will be holding an election to fill our District 9 Literature Committee Chair, as Chris P, our previous chair has
moved away. Due to my error, our election last month for Literature Chair was conducted
incorrectly. I sincerely apologize. In October we will be having elections due to positions
becoming vacant at the end of this year 2023. We will be using our Third Legacy Procedure.
Some of these are for positions that have one year terms with the option of standing for a
second term of one year according to our most recent Current Practice document. Job
descriptions are on our District 9 website, district9aa.org in Guidelines / Current Practices. Plus
they will be emailed out. Please contact me with any questions. Just a reminder, We, District 9
officers, District 9 Committee Chairs, ADCMs and DCMs, are here to serve you, the GSRs, and
the groups. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with comments or questions. Again, thank you for
being here and thank you for your service to Alcoholics Anonymous here in Broward County.
